Concept

Metamorphosis is an artistic installation inspired by the masterpiece of the same name by M.C. Escher. Taking his exploration of transformation and repetition as a starting point, the work reinterprets these ideas through modern technology. Displayed on a dynamic LED matrix, the piece brings Escher’s vision to life in motion: patterns expand, tessellations shift, and forms evolve continuously.

Creative process

We explored geometric patterns not just as abstract forms but as figurative expressions. The matrix itself became our canvas, driven by an almost obsessive desire to fill the screen, a phenomenon known as horror vacui: the urge to saturate space so that it feels alive with activity, form, and motion.

We designed a geometric patterns using Illustrator, taking the shapes and colors of Escher’s art as a reference and translating them into a modern key.
