Karma Lama
Visit websiteConnecting people with volunteering opportunities through a new brand identity and a scalable digital experience.
Concept
Karma Lama connects people who want to volunteer with organisations creating opportunities to make a positive impact. Volunteers can discover and manage opportunities, while organisations can create and coordinate their volunteer activities.
Challenge
One brand. Different users. One consistent experience.
The new visual identity needed to move beyond the brand and become a functional part of the product. The challenge was to create a flexible visual system that could adapt to different users, platforms and use cases while keeping the entire ecosystem recognisable and consistent.

Design system
Components, variants, styles and interaction states were structured to make the system scalable and adaptable across different screens, users and devices.
Volunteers
The volunteer experience is designed to help people find opportunities that fit their interests, availability and location. Volunteers can explore missions based on activity type, time and distance, discover the organisations behind them, and save opportunities for later. The goal is to turn discovery into action, joining missions and collecting Lama Points along the way.
Filter section
I designed an advanced filtering experience to help volunteers quickly narrow down opportunities based on their needs and preferences.
Organisation
Organisations have different needs from volunteers: they need to create opportunities, manage activities and coordinate their community. The desktop experience was designed to support these more complex workflows while maintaining the same visual language and interaction principles as the volunteer experience.
A collaborative process
Working directly with the Karma Lama team through weekly reviews and workshops allowed us to shape and refine the product together. Beyond the design challenge, I truly valued contributing to a project with such a strong social impact across Zürich and Switzerland.
